The Kidde KN-COSM-IBA uses breakthrough technology to offer a fast response to real fires, including smoldering and fast-flaming, as well as protect you from carbon monoxide and dramatically reduce the chance of nuisance alarms.
The Intelligent sensor technology combines the detection capabilities of an ionization smoke sensor – which is more likely to detect smaller, less visible fire particles, like those produced by flaming fires – with that of an electrochemical sensor, which is used to detect CO.
Since carbon monoxide is present in all fires, having both detection chambers work together in one alarm is a breakthrough in the fire safety industry.
When either sensor notices a potential hazard, it will communicate with the other. Depending on what is detected, the alarm will adjust its smoke sensitivity in order to better discriminate between a real hazard and a false one.
This constant communication enhances the alarm’s overall performance in all fires, and significantly reduces the potential for a nuisance alarm.

Features
The KN-COPP-LPM is an essential device to help warn you and your family of dangerous carbon monoxide levels in your home. This alarm measures the exposure to carbon monoxide over time; it is designed to sound at 85 decibels at 10 feet when it detects 70 ppm (parts per million) of CO for 60 to 240 minutes, 150 ppm for 10 to 50 minutes, or 400 ppm for 4 to 15 minutes. The easily visible digital display indicates the level of CO that the unit is sensing, and it updates the status every 15 seconds for timely and accurate readings. Its free-standing design allows for attachment to a wall or placement on a counter or nightstand for convenient and comprehensive protection. The KN-COPP-LPM also includes a slide-out battery door that provides immediate access to the power source as well as a battery safeguard that makes it difficult to close the cover without batteries installed. An LED lighting system on the unit signals power levels and sourcing: the green LED will flash once every 30 seconds to indicate the alarm is operating properly when power is present, and the red LED will pulse to indicate carbon monoxide has been detected until the device is reset or the CO threat is eliminated. Product Description

The Kidde P12040 is a 120VAC powered photoelectric smoke alarm with 9V battery back up. This advanced smoke alarm has the ability to function as a stand-alone unit or in an interconnected system. The Kidde P12040 includes a test button, quick-connect power harness and offers a 10-year limited warranty. This alarm uses photoelectric sensing technology. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner that photoelectric alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. The Kidde model P12040 is a 120VAC powered alarm that includes a 9V battery backup to provide continuous protection during a power failure and included a quick connect power harness to make installation simple. Part Number (Ordering Number): 21006371 Architectural and Engineering Specifications – The smoke alarm shall be Kidde model P12040 or approved equal. It shall be powered by a 120VAC, 60Hz, 80mA source along with a 9V battery back up. The unit shall incorporate a photoelectric sensor with nominal sensitivity of 1.20%/ft to 3.36%/ft. The temperature operation range shall be between 40˚F and 100˚F (4˚C and 38˚C) and the humidity operation range shall be 5% – 95% relative humidity. The smoke alarm can be installed on any standard single gang electrical box, up to a 4” octagon junction box. The electrical connection (to the alarm) shall be made with a plug-in connector. A maximum of 24 Kidde devices can be interconnected in a multiple station arrangement. The interconnect system must not exceed the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 18 initiating devices, of which 12 can be smoke alarms. With 18 initiation devices (smoke, heat, CO, etc.), interconnected, it is still possible to interconnect 6 strobe lights and or relay modules. The unit shall also include a low battery warning utilizing a brief alarm chirp every 30-40 seconds for a minimum of seven (7) days. The rapid flashing LED and pulsating alarm will continue until the air is cleared. The unit shall incorporate one green LED to indicate the presence of AC power. Sensor Technology
